About Prevent Together

OUR MISSION: Prevent Together - The National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation is a unified effort to promote the healthy development of children and youth and end child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Our History

In 2005, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) formed an advisory group to strategically plan its prevention efforts. The group quickly became an independent coalition for information-sharing and collaboration under the auspices of NCMEC. In 2012, this advisory group became an independent coalition, thus establishing The National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation.

The National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation - generally known as Prevent Together - serves as an information sharing and advocacy organization. The Coalition developed a National Plan to further its education and advocacy efforts in 2012.

Updated in 2021, the National Plan and the Six Pillars of Prevention provide concrete, actionable steps that individuals, advocates, organizations, and communities can take to better protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.

Prevent Together is comprised of the top advocates, educators, researchers, and practitioners working together with a national voice and a critical goal – to end the sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

The Coalition provides many educational and collaborative opportunities for members.

  • Quarterly all-member calls and an annual in-person meeting
  • Federal Advocacy Exchange
  • State Policy Exchange
  • Communications and messaging information
  • Diversity, equity & inclusion support
  • Networking and professional development opportunities
The Coalition's mission is to encourage, advocate, and raise awareness in the United States through evidence-based research and practices that promote prevention strategies to end child sexual abuse and exploitation.
